Summer Solstice Event - open to Scandinavian Society members and their friends
In Public
Welcome the Summer Solstice on Saturday, June 22 , 2pm - "fire goes out" at member Myra Jerome's house on an ocean cove at 1653 Ostrea Lake Road, Musquodoboit Harbour, NS B0J 2L0. We will get together and have a St. Hans fire!
According to Danish legend, the summer solstice is a night imbued with evil spirits. To guard against the evils of the witches, an effigy of one is put on top of a big bonfire, which will send the witch blazing off to Bloksbjerg, a mountain in Northern Germany.
We will enjoy a meal together on the lawn. Please bring your own chairs, food, drinks & utensils (to help save the oceans from plastic pollution). Maybe bring a Scandinavian dessert to share. There is a bathroom & grill available, as well as a cooler filled with ice.
We can play lawn games. Ring toss is here and feel free to bring your own favourite games! Supervised children are very welcome to attend.
