Passing of our long-term member Per Oddvar Myklebust

 It is with sadness that we inform our Scandinavian community of the passing of 

Per Oddvar Myklebust.  


Age 76 of Cole Harbour, passed away on Sunday, December 2, 2018 in Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in Sandöy, Norway on February 18, 1942, he was the son of Karl and Karn (Ræstad) Myklebust. Per immigrated to Canada in 1971 with his wife and two children. He eventually opened his own business, then worked as an engineering consultant and designed fish processing machines. In his spare time he loved listening to classical music, going out to dinner, cooking for people, long drives around Nova Scotia and spending time in nature. He and Rönnaug truly enjoyed their Norway trips. Per is survived by his wife of 55 years, Rönnaug; children, Karin (Peter Sandall) of Cole Harbour; Stein (María Anita Parra Medina) of Ottawa; grandchildren, Hayley (Ryan) and Connor; step grandchildren, Laura (Matt), Andrea (Diana) and Paola (Vincent); great-grandchildren, Tegan and Zale; and step great-grandchild, Luca. He leaves behind sisters, Gunvor and Oddbjörg; brother-in-law, Svein (Evelyn); sisters-in-law, Åslaug, Olgunn (Atle), Målfrid (Terje) and along with many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Karl and Karn Mykle bust; parents-in-law, Sverre and Åsta Rösok; brothers Magne, Ivar and Kjell; brothers-in-law, Ralph and Petter; along with nephews, Kjetil S. and Runar. A celebration of life will be held in Cole Harbour Funeral Home on Monday, December 10th from 1-3 p.m. This event is scent-free. Cremation has already taken place.
